Cooking up CMS Success: Emma Hamer on the Human Side of Content Management System Implementation

Though most of the effort of implementing a content management
system goes into selecting and rolling out technology, only

X-Pubs Webinar now available on YouTube

The X-Pubs Webinar: Content Management and Change: love it, hate it, master it, with Scott Abel and Emma Hamer, is now available (slides + audio) via YouTube. The 1-hour Webinar was held on January 23, 2007, for a combined European and North American audience.

Every new technology project that seeks to change the way people are used to working is put at risk by non-adoption by users, intermittent support by managers, and disparate expectations between the users, management, and the team implementing the system itself.
X-Pubs facilitates discussions around Change Management because although the business benefits of multi-purpose content reuse and single-source publishing of information are becoming commonly accepted, something still makes CMS and Structured Content scary.

This session covered things like: How can you maintain management support and involvement in a user-driven initiative?  How can department managers roll-out change to a large user group without turning them off?  How does a line manager help transition people’s skills to new systems?

Scott and Emma were voted two of the most valuable speakers at X-Pubs 2006 in London, and teamed up to with X-Pubs again to present the online event. Pre-register for the X-Pubs 2007 Europe’s Largest XML Publishing conference at X-Pubs 2007 Pre-Register to get on the list for entry discounts, pre-event offers and more.

What is X-Pubs?

X-Pubs organises and delivers webinars, seminars, case-studies and whitepapers from some of the industry’s most valued technical minds to educate on and promote the latest content standards. The group seeks to critique the established business justification for the adoption of XML and DITA and to address issues such as ROI, migration, authoring best practices, and team and culture issues often under-represented in technology discussions, thus helping organisations to make the right choices for their situation.
