BRAG! How to Toot Your Own Horn Without Blowing It Author: Peggy Klaus Peggy Klaus systematically debunks myth after myth—among them “Modesty is a Virtue” and “If I Work Hard, My Boss Will Notice” with a mix of explanations, thought-provoking statements, and—often very funny—stories. The combination is unparalleled in its effect of inspiring the reader to master the art of telling compelling stories, Bragalogues, in Ms Klaus’ terms, so others may better appreciate their talent.
Big bang for a small buck—at CAD 24.95, this little book packs a lot of punch, and reading it results in what I like to call a ‘Mind-Shifting Experience’.
Don't Send a Resume, and Other Contrarian Rules to Land a Great Job Author: Jeffrey J. Fox One of the most amazing little books ever written about how to research, analyze and approach selected potential employers—effectively cold-calling on them. Using the terminology of professional marketing and sales, the book is bursting with tips, examples and anecdotes, that together will inspire and motivate even the people most reluctant to “sell themselves”. The author writes with a light touch, with humour and wit.
The basic premise of the book is that the resume is no more than a sales tool—something to leave behind, or send after the first “sales call”. The text stresses the importance of finding and uncovering information about the organization’s shortcomings, missed opportunities, poor customer service, and so on—in order to demonstrate your skills and abilities. Research, research and preparation are the keys to success—not the resume itself.
